Created in satins, tulles and taffetas with lots of sparkly beading, the dresses really are something special. They come in a range of the season’s hottest pastel shades and have all the extra detail you’d expect from a designer gown, including being fully lined.

The frocks are only available online but can be delivered to your nearest New Look store for collection once purchased. Prices range from £120 to £225 and they come in sizes 6-14.

Snap yours up quick – we doubt they’ll hang about for long!

Brighton’s Walk in Wardrobe

From time to time we like to cover specialist prom stores in the UK and this week it’s the turn of Walk in Wardrobe in Brighton.

Katherine, the proprietor, has been helping girls find ‘the dress’ since 1997 and her service includes advice on which outfits flatter which figures and personal styling for special occasions. The store also boasts its own catwalk, an asset which allows customers to see how a gown looks, fits and moves.

It’s possible to buy or rent prom dresses, they offer minor alterations, and customers can shop in store or online.

Precious Formals, Forever Unique, Gino and Dynasty frocks are all stocked and Katherine and her staff take pains to ensure no two dresses of the same style and colour go to the same event.

For the past few years Walk in Wardrobe have run a Prom Dress Competition open to Year 11 school pupils in Sussex and this year the closing date is 12th April 2012. Enter online via their website.

A selection of Walk in Wardrobe prom gowns can be seen at The Martlets Fashion Show on March 20th at Sussex County Cricket Club.

The Prom Tux – 150 Years Old!

Kermit

When you don your prom night tux, not only will you look hot, but you’ll be sharing a slice of history that’s now 150 years old.

In 1861 British tailor Henry Poole designed a jacket for the Prince of Wales to wear at informal dinner parties. The jacket had no ‘tails’ and was based on the style of a smoking jacket with satin lapels. Thus began the dinner jacket. It’s unclear how it reached the USA but legend has it that New York millionaire James Potter returned home from a visit to the Prince of Wales in 1886 with a copy of the jacket and started wearing it to his elite Tuxedo Park Club. Other club members adopted the style and so the ‘tuxedo’ was born.

James Bond made it desirable in the 60′s and it’s been gracing red carpets ever since in one form or another. Burton are celebrating the birth of the tux with a suit for just £69 – not bad. Here’s how to wear it.

How To Apply False Eyelashes

If you’re thinking of wearing false eyelashes for prom then it’s essential to practice applying and wearing them before the big night – you don’t want to get all stressy or end up with red runny eyes do you?

This is YouTube’s most viewed false eyelash tutorial. Watch and learn … and practice!

Rollasole – The Ultimate Prom Accessory

No matter how much you love your sky high heels, hours of partying at prom will have your feet screaming for mercy. Luckily mercy, in the form of roll-up flatties, can be quietly waiting in your handbag for the moment when your feet yell “enough!”

Back in 2008, Matt Horan got fed up giving his high-heel-loving girlfriend a ‘piggy back’ home after every night out. He developed Rollasole, a unique roll-up flat shoe, as a solution to this problem and it’s been providing instant relief to party feet (including the tootsies of stars at the Golden Globes) ever since.

The original Gold Digger Rollasole now comes in a range of colours to match your frock and every pair comes with a little bag for bringing home your shoes.

So, when packing your prom night essentials, give your feet a break and throw in some Rollasoles. Available online from Sock Shop at £6.95.
