Rollasole – The Ultimate Prom Accessory

No matter how much you love your sky high heels, hours of partying at prom will have your feet screaming for mercy. Luckily mercy, in the form of roll-up flatties, can be quietly waiting in your handbag for the moment when your feet yell “enough!”

Back in 2008, Matt Horan got fed up giving his high-heel-loving girlfriend a ‘piggy back’ home after every night out. He developed Rollasole, a unique roll-up flat shoe, as a solution to this problem and it’s been providing instant relief to party feet (including the tootsies of stars at the Golden Globes) ever since.

The original Gold Digger Rollasole now comes in a range of colours to match your frock and every pair comes with a little bag for bringing home your shoes.

So, when packing your prom night essentials, give your feet a break and throw in some Rollasoles. Available online from Sock Shop at £6.95.

Evening Bag Opposites

While checking out the latest lines in Coast this week, I noticed two evening bags on opposite shelves. They were totally different but each was perfect in its own way.

Like a little party dress you carry, the black Ruffle Bag is all flounces and satin ribbons. Extremely feminine and pretty it would work well with a very simple frock.

By total contrast the Pisa Clutch in Lipstick red is a bag of sleek, structured simplicity. With a faceted gem clip fastening and optional chain shoulder strap, it would ideally partner many dresses, both simple and bold.

The Ruffle Bag is £35 and the Pisa Clutch £45 both available in store or from Coast-stores.com

Prom Tiaras

There are so few opportunities in life to wear a tiara and, as any four year old girl will tell you, they make you feel like a princess. Hugely popular in the States, the tiara is a prom night staple. Even if you’re attending a Brit Prom and not wearing a full length, full skirted, full on prom dress, you can still top off your outfit with a touch of hair bling.

You’ll find tiaras alongside wedding dresses in stores but prices vary hugely depending on the jewels. We found simple, understated prom headbands in diamante and crystal starting from £8 at www.lovetiaras.com and a large range of more traditional style tiaras (left) starting from around £7 at www.lightinthebox.com. You can also find both tiaras and silk flower headbands at www.bhs.co.uk from £10.

If tiaras are not for you but a bit of hair sparkle feels right then the jewelled Alice band is an option. Accessorize have many choices including crystal, pearl, and feather – we liked their Seth Beaded Statement Alice Band (right) at £12.

Tartan Tights for Burns Night

25th January is Burns Night – the annual celebration of famous Scottish poet Robbie Burns. Now even if you don’t fancy the traditional haggis and whiskey supper you can still salute the old fella by donning some tartan.

These wonderfully bright tartan tights by trendy hosier Pamela Mann are just the thing to cheer up the dullest of dull January days and are perfect for a little highland fling. Available from online emporium UK Tights and priced at £4.95.

To quote Burns “But to see her was to love her” Well, you’ll certainly be seen in these tights!

Dream Shoes

Ever dreamed of owning a pair of Kurt Geiger shoes? Well now could be your moment. The luxury brand currently has a half price sale making their heavenly shoes more affordable to mere mortals. Have a look, but be warned, you will be sorely tempted.

Talking of gorgeous shoes, several beautifully shod lasses teetered their way up the catwalk and into the Celebrity Big Brother house last night. Of all those on show our favourite pair has to be the super sparkly peep toes donning the feet of model Georgia Salpa.  Rumour has it they are the ‘Lady Peep 150mm‘ by French shoe designer Christian Louboutin and  are priced at $4,195 which is somewhere in the region of £2,700. Yup, just what we thought, yikees!

They are available from Harvey Nichols or can be bought online but be very wary of fakes. The trouble with fakes is you end up paying lots of money (the cheapest we found were £85!) for well, a fake.

Might be better to go for something similar at a more down to earth price. Our picks would be the Asos Passion Peep Toe Court (left) at £22 or the Kurt Geiger Miss KG Precious (right) at £45.

Bella Swan’s Wedding Shoes

They are truly beautiful – and very high! Bella’s wedding dress in the latest Twilight movie ‘Breaking Dawn’ was stunning but her shoes were the stuff of dreams. Designed by Manolo Blahnik and aptly named ‘Swan’ they are now available to buy from Neiman Marcus for a mere $1,295. The satin pump has crystal beading, a 4.1/4 covered heel and is also available in black and cranberry.

Shoes, bags, bras and baubles

No matter how elaborate or simple your prom dress is, perfect accessories will set it off. Obviously your choice is totally dependent on the style of your dress but here are a couple of things to think about. Read more…
