We care about your safety on Prom Night and so should you.
Alcohol – it’s fine to have a couple of drinks on Prom Night but if you drink too much, especially if you’re not used to drinking, you could end up in a variety of embarrassing and even dangerous situations. Throwing up, falling over, being too loud or crying can all be caused by drinking too much and are not attractive. You’ll regret it in the morning. Agreeing to sex because you are too drunk to say no or walking home alone late at night because the alcohol makes you feel invincible are considerably more dangerous and you could regret them for a lot longer.
Sex – American movies would have you believe boys think of nothing but losing their virginity on Prom Night. Well maybe they do but while Prom Night is a coming of age landmark there is nothing which says you have to have sex with anyone on Prom Night … or any other night for that matter. However, if you are planning to have sex, use a condom. You only need to do it once to get pregnant or catch a Sexually Transmitted Disease.
Travel – you may well have planned your limo ride to Prom Night but have you arranged safe travel home again? Remember it will be late and, if the Prom is not held at school, but in a hotel or country club you could find yourself far from home with no local transport. Share lifts with friends, parents or pre-book taxis.
