Red Carpet 1920′s Style

The awards season has just begun but already we’ve had some truly gorgeous frocks on the red carpet. Perhaps as a result of the new multi-Oscar nominated silent movie ‘The Artist’, set in the 1920′s, the flapper look is emerging as a trend.

Last night’s National Television Awards saw Fearne Cotton (left) wearing a stunning gown by Temperley London. The beautiful silk, crystal and tasseled dress ended just on Fearne’s knee but still had a distinct 1920′s feel.

Glee’s Lea Michele (right) graced the People’s Choice Awards earlier in the month in a fringe dress from the Marchesa Spring 2012 collection yet reminiscent of the Jazz Era.

With this modern take on the flapper style both ladies looked amazing and funnily enough both were declared ‘best dressed’ on the night by various journals.

Many prom designers are incorporating fringing and flapper elements into their gowns for 2012 but if you want the real thing check out Hollywood-based Leluxe Clothing. They’ve faithfully re-created 1920′s gowns for years and their Tango cream and silver dress is to die for.

More accessible is the highly individual Frock and Frill brand (left) who have a beaded Charleston style dress priced at £55 in nude.
